Even men as multitalented as Prince have their weaknesses. According to the legendary musician, who died Thursday at 57, his was cooking. When asked in a 1984 interview with Time magazine what he couldn't do — after proving himself to be a wildly successful musician, songwriter, and actor — he was at first completely and totally stumped.
Prince had at this point already simultaneously topped the charts, sold 2.5 million copies of Purple Rain, and starred in a movie that was getting "real tub-thumper reviews," Time reported in 1984.
After some deep thought and what the Time reporter wrote seemed to be "a fast career review," Prince finally came up with this response: "Anything I can't do? Yeah. I can't cook."
