Once the news broke that Prince died early Thursday at his Paisley Park compound near Minneapolis, fans made their way to his home and recording studio to pay their respects.

Many said they were in disbelief that the legendary artist was dead at 57. Dick McCalley told WCCO "it's just been gut wrenching and heartbreaking," and Maryanna Miller said "I just want it not to be true." Mike Rendahl told WCCO he saw Prince on Saturday during an event at Paisley Park, and while he did look a bit pale, he was in good spirits and showed off a brand new purple piano. "He seemed like a kid doing show and tell," he added. "You could tell he really liked it."

After a day of rain, there was one bright spot: The showers stopped, and a rainbow appeared over Paisley Park. Catherine Garcia
