Thurston Moore is feeling the Bern. The Sonic Youth co-founder joins the ranks of Vampire Weekend, Neil Young, Grizzly Bear, Killer Mike, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers in supporting the Democratic underdog, and apparently has taken his fandom a step further by breaking out his guitar for an original Bernie-inspired piece.
Officially a "collaboration" with Sanders, the single, "Feel It in Your Guts," is "a 12-string acoustic piece laced with excerpts from Bernie Sanders' speeches, touching on topics like the worship of money, economic inequality, social justice, and the need for basic human rights for all people."
A thousand white flexi-disc vinyls of the track will be gifted to people who make individual donations to the Sanders campaign, and while there is no minimum donation, the label explains, "We reserve the right to cancel your order if we feel like you're being an opportunistic dick. Dig deep. Feel it in your guts." Moore recommends a $27 contribution; the track is also available to download for free.
