Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said at a Monday morning press conference that he will not allow his Florida city to be defined by Sunday's terror attack at the gay nightclub Pulse, which left 49 victims dead. "We will not be defined by the act of a cowardly hater," Dyer said. "We will be defined by how we respond."
Dyer said that of the 49 victims, 48 have been identified. Authorities are still in the process of notifying next of kin. He also clarified that there were 49 victims from the shooting; the 50th person killed was the suspected gunman, Omar Mateen. Additionally, 53 other people were injured.
