Donald Trump is apparently signing his tweets 'Donald J. Trump' now
Signing tweets is something that only grandparents do — or, alternatively, a strategy used by celebrities who want to signal that they were the ones to have written the tweet, rather than their usual PR person. That is why it is odd that Donald Trump (who writes his own tweets regardless of how ill-advised) is now apparently signing his name:
We are left with more questions than answers. Has it turned out that Trump never actually wrote a single tweet himself and these are the first? Is he concerned that people don't see his verified @realDonaldTrump handle and are uncertain who to attribute the wisdom to? Does he want to make it easy for the editors of The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations to know what lines of his to include? Does he fear that in the midst of the roiling election season, we have forgotten his middle initial?
We may never know.
