6 police officers shot in Baton Rouge, 3 confirmed dead
Six police officers were shot and three were killed around 9 a.m. Sunday morning in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
One shooter has been killed and police believe two more are still on the run. Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L. J. McKneely said the scene is contained.
This incident follows the recent death of an African-American man named Alton Sterling at the hands of Baton Rouge police, also outside a convenience store. Since Sterling's death, Baton Rouge has seen both peaceful protests and what police believed to be credible threats against officers.
