Protests broke out in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after footage surfaced of two white police officers pinning down a black man and fatally shooting him outside a convenience store Tuesday. The circulating cell phone video shot by a bystander shows Alton Sterling, 37, being tackled to the ground, and then held down as one of the officers appears to hold a gun above Sterling's chest. An autopsy revealed that Sterling died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and the back.

Officers arrived on the scene after an anonymous caller claimed a man selling CDs had threatened him with a gun. The involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
