He probably wouldn't tell his father this in person, but on Wednesday, Eric Trump revealed that he never thought Donald Trump would become the Republican nominee for president.

Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer he doesn't think anyone in the early days of his father's campaign expected him to win the nomination. "Did I always think he was going to make it to the top two, top three, top two maybe? Sure, I always felt pretty comfortable," he said (there was speculation earlier in the campaign that Trump was always angling for second or third place, and not the whole enchilada). Trump's rivals were "amazingly talented people," he added, but "I know that gift my father has, he has an amazing gift."
