Indonesian bridge collapse kills 9, including 3 children

A bridge collapsed near Bali, Indonesia, on Sunday, killing at least nine people and injuring some 30 more. Among the dead were three children, local officials said, and the collapse was likely caused by an excess of traffic as a crowd of pedestrians and motorbike riders used it to reach a religious ceremony.
The bridge connected two small islands across a span of ocean water about six feet at its deepest, so drowning was not a serious risk. However, falling debris from the bridge hit victims during the collapse.
