Smartwatch sales are crashing, with global shipments dropping 51.6 percent year-over-year during 2016's third quarter, to just 2.7 million devices. Apple is still the leader with 41.3 percent of the global market, Fortune reports, but Apple Watch shipments fell 71.6 percent during the latest quarter.

Part of the decline can be attributed to a lack of new products, the International Data Corporation said in a report. Google has delayed releasing its latest Android Wear operating system until 2017, which could be causing device manufacturers to hold off on releasing new products. Samsung also has yet to announce when its upcoming Gear S3 smartwatch will hit the global market; it's set to drop in the U.K. in November.
