Two nonpartisan, nonpolitical veteran services groups have joined forces to host a solidarity run in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday night following an attack at a practice session for the Republican congressional baseball team early Wednesday morning. "No matter our personal politics, we can all agree that people playing baseball with their colleagues, staff, and in some cases their children don't deserve to be attacked," the groups, Got Your 6 and Team Red, White, and Blue, said in a media alert. "And neither does our city we love — Alexandria, Virginia."
The walk and run is intended to show that "violence will not divide our community," the groups added. "Tonight, we will #RunWithAlexandria along with members of Congress, their staff, and the brave men and women of the Capitol Police and Alexandria City Police who put their lives on the line to protect us all."
