Nancy Pelosi trashes GOP tax reform in matter-of-fact press briefing

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was quick to drag the GOP's new tax reform plan — or as Pelosi called it, the "Ryan-McConnell framework" — in a press briefing Thursday afternoon. "Whatever you do when you talk about this tax reform, don't call it reform. Because it's not reform," Pelosi said.

The new plan proposes condensing the seven individual tax brackets into three, and the GOP is promoting it as a middle-class victory. Pelosi didn't agree, saying it would only cause middle-class families to pay more.

But the tax proposal isn't Pelosi's main priority right now, she said, saying she's focused on passing legislation regarding the DREAM Act, which extends immigration protections to individuals brought to the country illegally as children. Pelosi is planning to meet with President Trump to discuss the matter, and said Trump promised he'd sign a DREAM bill if it came to his desk.
