Ryan Gosling goes to a dark place in SNL's parody of cheery HGTV real estate shows

"If you love the Property Brothers, just wait 'til you meet Pete, Zeke, and Tristan. It's The Fliplets!" So starts Saturday Night Live's parody of HGTV ("You're watching HGTV, 'cuz your house sucks!") and its equally cheery and unrealistic real estate shows.

The skit features SNL's Mikey Day as Pete the real estate agent, Alex Moffat as Zeke the contractor, and episode host Ryan Gosling as Tristan, the only triplet who lived with their dad after their parents divorced.

Pete and Zeke are ready to make a wholesome HGTV hit, but Tristan has some darker thoughts to share — like how "religion is a drug," and the story of that one time he saw a guy get hit by a bus, watching frozen "by a dreadful excitement." "And in that moment I died a little unto myself," Tristan adds, growing more intense by the second, "but I was reborn as the lizard I was destined to become."
