The New York Times just trashed L.A., and Angelenos are pissed

Hell hath no fury like an Angeleno whose city has just been trashed by a New Yorker — or worse yet, by The New York Times. On Wednesday, West Coasters united in their mutual contempt of a Times article with scorching lines about how the City of Angels has an "absence of strong institutions to bind it together."

"For all its successes, Los Angeles has not developed the political, cultural, and philanthropic institutions that have proved critical in other American cities," a smug New York Times went on to observe.
