Ruby Rose cast as CW's Batwoman

Ruby Rose is here to prove orange is the new Batwoman.
The breakout Netflix star is returning the small screen for The CW's Batwoman series, which is currently in development, the network revealed Tuesday. If the series ends up being produced, Batwoman will be the first TV series focused on an LGBT superhero, per Entertainment Weekly. The gender fluid Rose's starring role as the lesbian hero would be a boundary-breaker as well.
The Australia-born Rose broke into Hollywood as the popular Orange is the New Black character Stella Carlin, and stars in this summer's shark thriller The Meg. Whether or not Batwoman makes it to series, Rose will appear in DC Comics' annual crossover TV event this December, which brings Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Supergirl together for a crime-fighting extravaganza. DC and The CW already shattered expectations by casting Nicole Maines as TV's first transgender superhero in late July.
