Democratic Sen. Jon Tester prevails in tight re-election

Incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Tester beat Republican Matt Rosendale to win Montana's Senate race, CNN and The Associated Press project.
Tester won by 49 percentage points to Rosendale's 48.1 percent, with 92 percent of precincts reporting, per The New York Times.
Tester was one of several red-state Democrats facing a tough path to re-election, seeing as his state went for President Trump by more than 20 points in 2016. Still, Tester generally polled above the Trump-supporting Rosendale throughout the race.
