GOP Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker defeated by Democrat Tony Evers

Democrat Tony Evers narrowly defeated Republican Gov. Scott Walker to win the Wisconsin governor's race, The Associated Press and NPR project. The race was tight all night, with Evers leading narrowly for most of the night but given a late boost from Milwaukee absentee ballots.
First elected in 2010, Walker survived a recall election in 2012 and won re-election in 2014 by nearly 6 percentage points. Evers has been Wisconsin's superintendent of public instruction since 2009. Last week, a Marquette Law School poll showed the candidates tied 47-47.
This race focused on health care, school funding, and economic development. The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign says Walker had about a 3-to-1 financial advantage over Evers during the campaign.
