Following months of speculation about Chief of Staff John Kelly's future, he's reportedly days away from leaving the administration.
Kelly is expected to resign "in the coming days," his relationship with President Trump having deteriorated to the point where the two "have stopped speaking," CNN reports. Trump is "actively discussing" a plan for replacing Kelly, the report also stated. Axios previously reported that it is widely believed inside the West Wing that Kelly's departure is "imminent."
Meanwhile, ABC News' Jonathan Karl reports a staff meeting that Kelly would normally attend has been canceled.
The leading contender to replace Kelly is reportedly Vice President Mike Pence's chief of staff, Nick Ayers, although as usual, CNN cautions that nothing will be official until the president announces it.
