David Harbour makes his debut as Hellboy in the reboot's first trailer

Lionsgate has brought the Hellboy franchise back from the dead.

The studio on Wednesday released the first official trailer for the new reboot, which stars Stranger Things' David Harbour as the titular half-demon superhero. It goes all in on the comedy and doesn't look to be taking itself seriously at all, with lots of one-liners and with the cheeky tagline, "Save the world just for the hell of it." The upbeat trailer features plenty of monster fighting as well, and it's all set to Billy Idol’s "Mony Mony."

This is the third Hellboy film following two that were directed by Guillermo del Toro, released in 2004 and 2008. It was always Del Toro's goal to make a third film, but he was never able to get it off the ground, and he's not involved in this reboot. For that reason, some fans of Del Toro and of Hellboy's original actor, Ron Perlman, have expressed resistance to this film. Replacing Del Toro in the director's chair is Neil Marshall, known for the 2005 horror film The Descent and for two of Game of Thrones' best episodes: "Blackwater" and "The Watchers on the Wall."
