Captain Marvel has best opening weekend of 2019
Captain Marvel had an incredible debut weekend, bringing in an estimated $153 million in North America and an additional $302 million in global ticket sales.
Starring Brie Larson, Captain Marvel is the first Marvel Studios film with a solo female lead, and it had not only the biggest opening weekend of 2019, but also the largest worldwide opening of all time for a movie fronted by a woman. Captain Marvel cost $150 million to make.
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World came in second place at the box office with $14.7 million, followed by Tyler Perry's A Madea Family Funeral with $12 million.
