Rapper Nipsey Hussle shot and killed outside his L.A. clothing store
Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in South Los Angeles, law enforcement officials told the Los Angeles Times.
The 33-year-old was hit multiple times while standing outside of his store, The Marathon Clothing, and was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Two other men were also shot and sustained serious injuries.
The rapper, born Ermias Asghedom, was also a community organizer, and spoke openly about his time in a Los Angeles gang when he was a teenager. "I grew up in gang culture," he told the Times in 2018. "We dealt with death, with murder. It was like living in a war zone, where people die on these blocks and everybody is a little bit immune to it."
