Jeopardy host Alex Trebek has just shared some great news about his cancer battle.

Trebek, who in March revealed his stage IV pancreatic cancer diagnosis, on Wednesday told People that his doctors say he is in "near remission."

“It's kind of mind-boggling,” Trebek said. "The doctors said they hadn't seen this kind of positive result in their memory ... some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent."

Trebek said he will need to continue with additional chemotherapy before he's in full remission, but he told People he cried tears of joy when he heard the news, and he thanked fans for their love and support.

"I've got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers,” he said. "I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this."
