CNN will also host a 2020 town hall focused on LGBTQ issues
It's not just climate change that needs its time in the spotlight.
CNN announced on Wednesday night that it will partner with Human Rights Campaign to host another town hall with Democratic presidential candidates, this time focused on LGBTQ issues.
The announcement came just after the network hosted a marathon town hall addressing climate change. While the Democratic National Committee opted not to conduct a single-issue debate on climate change, 10 candidates accepted an invitation from CNN to appear as part of a seven-hour televised event.

Wednesday's forum, along with the LGBTQ focused town hall that will reportedly take place next month in Los Angeles, is intended to give candidates a chance to talk about their policy platforms in detail and have nuanced discussion related to topics shown to be a priority for Democratic voters.
Human Rights Campaign, a civil rights organization advocating for LGBTQ issues, heralded the "historic" upcoming event in a press release. "The evening will constitute the largest-ever audience for a Democratic presidential town hall devoted to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) issues," the release reads, "and will mark the first time in history that a major cable news network will air a presidential event devoted to issues of importance to the LGBTQ community."
