Iranian state media is reporting that Tehran has fired multiple missiles at the al-Asad air base in western Iraq, which houses U.S. troops.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards has taken responsibility for the attacks, calling it "fierce revenge" against the United States in retaliation for the death of Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani. Last week, President Trump authorized an airstrike in Baghdad that killed Soleimani; the Trump administration has said Soleimani was targeted because he was planning imminent attacks against U.S. interests.
