89 things Donald Trump has said about women
The former president has a long history of controversial remarks about the opposite sex
For the bulk of his life in the public eye, Donald Trump has fancied and fashioned himself as a certain type of ladies' man. He partied in exclusive Manhattan nightclubs with supermodels — eventually marrying not one, but two — while enjoying tabloid headlines that elevated his lothario-tinged love life to near mythological proportions. It's a reputation he embraced wholeheartedly, using his wealth and fame to "do anything" to women that he wanted to, as he boasted in the now-infamous "Access Hollywood" tape. "When you're a star," Trump said in the tape, "they let you do it."
This mindset has arguably cost Trump millions, as this past year author E. Jean Carroll successfully sued him for sexually assaulting her in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s. Although Trump has maintained his innocence in that case, and in the face of multiple other allegations of similar behavior, Carroll's legal victory has helped put Trump's attitude toward women back in the national spotlight, just as the former President was embarking on his third campaign for the White House. The 2024 presidential race will, in no small part, hinge on women voters who cast their ballots with issues like reproductive health in mind.
Here, then, are some of Donald Trump's unfiltered thoughts about women, both specific and in general. Some of these were delivered in a political context, others as part of his general history of public remarks over a lifetime as a celebrity. But all of them offer a peek inside how the man who would be president once again sees the women of the world.

"What do you think of Lindsay Lohan? There's something there, right? But you have to like freckles. I've seen a close-up of her chest. And a lot of freckles. Are you into freckles? ... Three weeks after her death, Trump was asked if he could have "nailed" Princess Diana: "I think I could have." [1997]

"All of the women on 'The Apprentice' flirted with me — consciously or unconsciously. That's to be expected." [2004]
"It's certainly not groundbreaking news that the early victories by the women on 'The Apprentice' were, to a very large extent, dependent on their sex appeal." [2004]
On women he's been in relationships with
"I'd have no problem" sleeping with 24-year-olds. (Trump was 60 at the time.) [2006]
"I don't want to be like Congressman Foley, with, you know, 12-year-olds." [2006]
Asked whether he's had sex with a Black woman: "Well, it depends on what your definition of Black is." [2005]
"You know, it doesn't really matter what [the media] writes as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass." [1991]

"Look at her ass" (allegation by former administration Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham) [May 9, 2023]
"I've got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything." [2005]
"I think the only difference between me and the other candidates is that I'm more honest and my women are more beautiful." [Nov. 17, 1999]
"There's nothing I love more than women, but they're really a lot different than portrayed. They are far worse than men, far more aggressive, and boy, can they be smart!" [1997]
"Women have one of the great acts of all time. The smart ones act very feminine and needy, but inside they are real killers. The person who came up with the expression 'the weaker sex' was either very naive or had to be kidding. I have seen women manipulate men with just a twitch of their eye — or perhaps another body part." [1997]
His thoughts on how he treats women
"Nobody has more respect for women than I do. Nobody. Nobody has more respect." [Oct. 19, 2016]
