Police mistake a Nerf gun fight for an actual gun fight — and more in our collection of strange revelations about the nation

Police in Elyria, Ohio, responded with every available unit when they received word of gunfire at a local elementary school... only to discover that the "gunfire" actually came from a Nerf gun fight. "People were shocked that we were there," said Elyria police Capt. Christopher Constantino. Still, Constantino and his crew put the school on lockdown while they searched its perimeter.
