Students rejoice? A committee of the Oklahoma state legislature has voted to ban Advanced Placement U.S. history, Think Progress reports, because it only teaches "what is bad about American history."

[State Rep. Dan] Fisher said the Advanced Placement history class fails to teach "American exceptionalism." The bill passed the Oklahoma House Education committee on Monday on a vote of 11-4. [Think Progress]

Republicans at the national level have also condemned the course. The Republican National Committee last year criticized it for its "consistently negative view of American history."
