The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is calling for an investigation into the McKinney, Texas, police department. An unidentified officer was placed on leave Sunday after video surfaced of him aggressively handcuffing a black 14-year-old girl and pulling a weapon on bystanders at a pool party Saturday.
"I am deeply disturbed by the McKinney Police Department’s treatment of these African American teenagers," NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks said in a statement. "These teens appeared to be simply attending a pool party and deserved respectful treatment under the law."
NAACP leaders are meeting with police Chief Greg Conley on Monday to demand an investigation.
