Service dog jumps in front of a bus to save blind owner

Superdog, anyone? On Monday, a service dog heroically got between an oncoming mini school bus and its blind owner, in Brewster, New York, shielding her from the worst of the impact.

While both owner Audrey Stone and her golden retriever Figo sustained injuries, the two were on the mend Tuesday following the crash.

"The dog took a lot of the blow," said Brewster Police Chief John Del Gardo. "And he did not want to leave her side.” While witnesses and emergency responders tended the pair, Figo kept inching toward Stone, as she too called out for her courageous pup.

The bus driver didn't see Stone and her dog crossing the road, but he and the two kindergarten passengers were unharmed.

Somebody get this dog his cape, pronto.
