Fox News' former co-president, Bill Shine, is reportedly expected to take over as White House communications director, The New York Times reports. Shine was pushed out of the company last year, apparently over his handling of the Roger Ailes sexual harassment scandal, though Fox News officially said he resigned.

The communications director post has been vacant since Hope Hicks departed three months ago. Shine has reportedly met with people in the West Wing about the position, including President Trump. Officials are "aware that they will face blowback for appointing someone so closely tied to Mr. Ailes and the culture of harassment toward women at Fox News," the Times writes, but "they said Wednesday that they believe they can weather it."
