CNN's Chris Cuomo secures network's top ratings — but still lags behind Fox News and MSNBC
Fox News is still the undisputed king of cable news.
Fox handily beat the competition with an average of 1.4 million viewers during the day and 2.4 million overall during primetime over the past three months, per Nielsen Media Research. But MSNBC is creeping up, averaging 930,000 viewers in the day and 1.7 million in primetime during the second quarter of 2018. That's a jump for the liberal-leaning network, but not enough to come close to toppling Fox from its 66-month tenure at the top.
CNN came in third with an average of 929,000 viewers during primetime, per The Hill. Chris Cuomo, who recently moved from the morning's New Day to the 9 p.m. Cuomo Prime Time, is now the network's top-rated host, averaging 1.04 million viewers per night.

Sean Hannity of Fox continued his hold on the No. 1 primetime spot with 3.37 million viewers each night, and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow again secured second with 2.75 million. Fox's Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham claimed third and fourth, respectively, with MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell close behind.
