Killing Eve season two: the questions that need answering
Second series of hit BBC drama set to air in the US next month
The next season of Killing Eve is set to air in the US next month.
Many questions were left unanswered at the end of the first season, in which MI5 agent Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) tracks the murderous psychopath Villanelle (Jodie Comer).
A trailer for the upcoming series suggests that Villanelle is now just as keen to draw Eve in closer after the blood-soaked finale.

So what questions are fans hoping will be answered?
Who are The Twelve?
The Twelve is the name given to a shadowy organisation that uses assassins to do its dirty work. They have been using Villanelle but it emerges that she does not know her bosses' identity.
“All we know is that there is a method to their murders and that they have their people everywhere - like Konstantin in Russian intelligence,” says Hello! magazine.
It is safe to assume we will be hearing a lot more about the elusive group in season two.
What will happen to Eve and Villanelle's relationship?
“I suppose the big difference is that while series one was very much a cat-and-mouse chase, in series two we’re really exploring different facets of the relationship between Eve and Villanelle,” the series’s producer Elinor Day told Entertainment Weekly.
The trailers have already confirmed that Killing Eve season two will pick up where the finale left off, with a wounded Villanelle on the run and Eve fearing she has killed her.
Comer tells Glamour magazine that their new dynamic is a big change for Villanelle: “She's never in this situation - she's not in control at all. It was great to play that; for someone who is always on top, she's very much on the bottom of the food chain.”
But it appears it won't take long for Villanelle to get back on her feet and to work on getting revenge. “Villanelle is still very creative in her kills, when she gets back on track,” Comer promises.
What’s Villanelle’s backstory?
When Eve tells Villanelle that she thinks “something awful happened to her”, Villanelle says nothing to hint that she is wrong.
It is “alluded to that she was abused as a young girl, which seems to play out with her calling card that is her penchant for cutting off penises”, says Metro. So will we find out what turned Villanelle villainous?
Whose side is Carolyn on?
“As the first batch of episodes rumble on, we discover that the head of MI6’s Russia desk is duplicitous to say the least,” says Digital Spy. At first, Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw) sets up a secret unit for Eve to investigate Villanelle, then she reveals her affair with Villanelle’s confidante Konstantin (Kim Bodnia).
If that wasn’t confusing enough, Carolyn secretly meets Villanelle in a Russian prison and then disbands Eve’s newly formed investigation unit. Could she be a member of The Twelve?
Will there be a third series?
Producers have contracted the main stars - Comer, Oh and Shaw - for a third season and it is expected to start production in the summer. But that may be all there is to come.
“We’ve had a good run, but nothing lasts forever,” one of the Killing Eve team told The Times. “I suspect our amazing actors will outgrow the show.”
The BBC has yet to confirm a UK transmission date for the second season, which will begin broadcasting in America on 7 April.
