1. Crowds rally against anti-Asian violence across U.S. in wake of Atlanta shootings

Crowds gathered at the Georgia state capitol and elsewhere in the United States on Saturday in the wake of a mass shooting episode, in which a lone suspect is accused of killing eight people, including six women of Asian descent, at two Atlanta spas and a massage parlor north of the city this week. The motive behind the attacks is still being determined, but the event has sparked an outpouring of support for the Asian American community in the U.S., which has experienced an upswing in violence in the last year. Sens. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) and Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) addressed hundreds of people gathered in Atlanta. "I just wanted to drop by to say to my Asian sisters and brothers, we see you, and, more importantly, we are going to stand with you," Warnock said. Similar rallies were held in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and New York City.
