The Chizza: KFC launches pizza with fried chicken crust
Twitter users hungry to find out more about fast-food chain's 'all chicken, no crust' pizza
From Brexit to Trump, 2016 brought one earth-shattering shock after another, but even though it's only a couple of months old, 2017 has arguably usurped last year with the launch of the KFC "Chizza".
A portmanteau of "chicken" and "pizza", the Chizza removes pizza's traditional dough and replaces it with fried chicken.
It is described by KFC as "all chicken, no crust", with a base topped with "100 per cent mozzarella cheese" and "sauce made from California tomatoes".

Alternative toppings include ham, pineapple and KFC sauce.
But there is one downside - or upside, depending on your taste buds: the Chizza is only available in Singapore.
While chicken and pizza remain two of the world's most popular fast food staples, KFC's creation provoked a frenzied, often baffled reaction on social media.
Some tweeters couldn't help but express their amazement:

Other chicken fans even made their way to KFCs across Singapore to sample the new dish – which was everything they had hoped for and more:
For others, however, the dream of a harmonious union between pizza and chicken manifested itself as little more than an ill-judged foray into uncharted gastronomic territory:
Whether or not KFC will bring the Chizza to its UK branches remains to be seen, but it's sure to cause another Twitter meltdown if it does.
