LG's ultra-thin 'wallpaper' TV costs more than a new car
Korean tech giant ups the size – and price tag – of its range-topping televisions
LG has announced an even larger version of its range-topping, ultra-thin "wallpaper" series of smart TVs, which costs more than a hatchback car.
The Korean tech giant has increased its W7 series TVs from 65ins to 77ins, says TechRadar, but it has also upped the price from $7,999 (£6,180) to $20,000 (£15,450).
Unlike conventional TVs that come with a stand or wall mount, the website says LG's new 77ins TV comes with a "magnetic mounting system" so that it sits completely flush with the wall. It also boasts a thickness of just 0.2ins (175mm), making it considerably thinner than other TVs on the market.

The TV features 4K-UHD resolution and HDR (high dynamic range) lighting effects, which DigitalTrends says makes it look "like a window into another world."
This is helped by the company's OLED (organic light emitting diode) display technology, meaning it can "achieve perfect black levels" – especially when compared to regular LED units.
LG has managed to create such a thin design, while retaining a high picture quality, by moving the TV's hardware into the device's Dolby Atmos sound bar, the site says.
The W7 TV doesn't work if the sound bar isn't connected, but the wire that connects the two together is "thin" and "can be easily covered up or installed in-wall to complete the window-like illusion".
Unfortunately, LG's massive flatscreen is only available in the US. While LG may ship it outside America in future, UK buyers can always opt for the cheaper 65ins version and save around £8,000.
