A celebration of high jewellery at Harrods
An array of brightly coloured jewels goes on display in a new exhibition at the London department store
Until 17 August, there's even more to covet in Harrods Fine Jewellery Room as the famous department store showcases exclusive and limited-edition pieces from the world's leading maisons.
The exhibition, celebrating the beauty of colour in all its forms, brings together 21 brands – including Cartier, Harry Winston, Graff, Van Cleef & Arpels, Dior and Boucheron – that have each interpreted the theme through elaborate creations made with extraordinary, brightly-hued stones. Complementing the displays of precious jewels are artworks and sketches adorning the hall's walls that offer an additional insight into the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into producing such high-end works.
Many of the collections have made their way from Paris Haute Couture Week to London. These include Chaumet est une fete, the latest launch from the French jewellery house, which is imbued with the glamour of the Roaring Twenties and takes its inspiration from opera and some of its most iconic music venues. Among the most eye-catching is the aria passionata range, which reimagines the opulent reds and golds of Milan's La Scala in scarlet-hued rubies and tourmalines that have been set into rings and brooches and delicately draped in show-stopping necklaces.

It's also an opportunity to see Faberge's new offering – Secret Garden – up close, which explores the natural world through the lens of Russian artist Marc Chagall, drawing from his vivid depictions of flowers and bouquets. Just like its famous eggs, flowers have long been a key motif found across the jeweller’s work, captured here in whimsical, statement pieces incorporating a melange of fresh, vibrant spring colours.
