Land Rover specialists Bowler has released a short teaser clip previewing a new road car based on the popular Defender off-roader.
The new, as-yet-unnamed vehicle will be powered by a V8 engine that may produce in the region of 399bhp, judging by Bowler’s previous Defender-based projects, says Autocar.
The British motorsport company are expected to build the new car on its existing “Cross Sector Platform”, a modular structure that “can be adapted for applications in different body styles”, the magazine adds.

But unlike Bowler’s previous models, which are geared towards off-road motorsport, the new model is tipped to be a more road-focused vehicle.
Bowler is giving little away in its preview clip, but the car’s silhouette and a number of styling details can be seen. The vehicle its much lower to the ground than the company’s other creations and appears to be significantly wider than the Defender.
Other details, such as performance figures and pricing, are being kept under wraps until the car makes it debut later this year.
Based on the price tags on Bowler’s existing fleet, buyers might expect to pay between £100,000 to £150,000 when the new car hits the market in October.
