Swift’s addiction to love

Taylor Swift is in love with falling in love.

Taylor Swift is in love with falling in love, said Lizzy Goodman in Elle. In the past few years, the 23-year-old singer has thrown herself into brief, disastrous romances with pop crooner Joe Jonas, actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Lautner, and guitarist John Mayer. Last year, she moved on to Conor Kennedy—the 17-year-old son of Robert Kennedy Jr.—and then had a brief fling with Harry Styles, the 18-year-old star of boy band One Direction. Swift admits that she craves the euphoria she feels at the start of a new romance. “Having just met someone—that’s almost as good as it gets, isn’t it?” But Swift doesn’t think she’s ever really been in love, and has only experienced “versions of love that weren’t the love.” With different boyfriends, she’s felt “love mixed with infatuation. Love mixed with comfort. Love mixed with a dangerous level of mind games. Love mixed with too much competition. When there are too many negative emotions, you can come out of it and the dust settles and you categorize it as something other than love.” She pauses to think for a moment. “Also, I need to live in a world where my best love is ahead of me, not behind me.”
