The wonderfully acerbic Peter Capaldi joins the cast of this sharp-edged drama about BBC journalists. As Season 2 begins, it’s late 1957 and Bel (Romola Garai), Hector (Dominic West), and Freddie (Ben Whishaw) are together again, working an hourlong news program. At a time of political corruption and rising public fear, the trio’s own lives are complicated by sexual intrigue and potential scandal. Capaldi plays the new boss, adding even more spice to a series that, despite its period setting, feels startlingly modern. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 9 p.m., BBC America
