Sarandon’s adventures in singlehood
Susan Sarandon is still adapting to single life.
Susan Sarandon is still adapting to single life, said Chrissy Iley in The Daily Telegraph (U.K.). She broke up with partner Tim Robbins in 2009, 21 years after they got together on the set of Bull Durham. “Somebody said, ‘Does it get easier?’ I don’t think it gets easier, but it gets better,” says the 65-year-old actress, who has two sons with Robbins. “It’s a little scary, but I feel like I’m living an authentic life right now. I feel happy and I have more options because the kids are older and my situation being what it is.” A couple of years ago, she opened a Ping-Pong club in New York called Spin. The game appeals to her because girls can beat boys, and older women can beat younger men. Gossip columns are filled with talk that Sarandon is dating her partner in the venture, 34-year-old Jonathan Bricklin. “Yeah,” she says, in a kind of pleased-with-herself growl. Are the rumors true? “I’d say we are collaborators in a lot of different areas. We have a lot of projects in different areas.” Does she like him? “He’s a great guy, but I hate that expression ‘dating.’” Is that a polite way of admitting she’s sleeping with Bricklin? Sarandon smiles, all coy. “Don’t you like the word ‘collaborating’?”
