This collaborative reworking of an Anton Chekhov play “looks even better now” than it did in 1994, said the A.V. Club. In a nearly empty Times Square theater, a cast of actors—including Wallace Shawn and Julianne Moore—perform the play mostly to master it. The film would be director Louis Malle’s last.
