A Republican pledge in South Carolina

In Laurens County, S.C., Republican candidates must henceforth sign a pledge that they did not or will not have sex before marriage, are not gay, and will not watch pornography. The pledge—approved unanimously by the GOP executive committee—contains 24 other moral requirements that chairman Bobby Smith says are “essential to try and protect the party’s reputation.”

A Florida bar denied transgender customers discount drinks on Ladies Night. Alex Borrego, who was born male, says she and three transgender friends were told by a bouncer at a St. Petersburg bar that they didn’t qualify for Ladies Night “because you’re dudes.” The bar has since apologized, vowing to be a “premier nightlife destination for everyone.”
