Beer: The South rises
The South is imparting its own flavors to the craft-beer revolution.
The Deep South isn’t normally associated with the craft-beer revolution, said Joshua M. Bernstein in FoodRepublic​.com. But on a recent trip to New Orleans, I was struck by “the breadth and scope of novel, locally brewed beer.”
Bière Noire Bayou Teche, Louisiana. Bayou Teche specializes in beers that complement Cajun and Creole cuisine. This “robust” dark brew “drinks crisp and semidry,” with hints of rich coffee.
Hopitoulas IPA NOLA Brewing, Louisiana. This West Coast–influenced IPA is crafted with six types of hops and six types of malts.
