A Texas man serving a life sentence for armed robbery has had his conviction overturned, after he remembered that he was in jail at the time of the crime. Lawyers for LaDondrell Montgomery, 36, say he failed to tell them of his ironclad alibi before his trial because Montgomery—a serial offender—has been in and out of jail so many times that he “just couldn’t remember, for that particular date, where he was.”

Stray cat inherits a fortune

A formerly stray Italian cat has just inherited more than $15 million. Real estate investor Maria Assunta died last month at 94 and, having no heirs, left her entire fortune to Tommasino, a stray cat she had adopted. Assunta’s former nurse was appointed trustee of Tommasino’s millions and given the job of satisfying the cat’s needs—which Assunta’s lawyer said won’t be hard. “He is happy with a saucer of milk and some biscuits,” the lawyer said.
