Hotel of the week: Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles
One of Hollywood's grander hotels has reopened after a $100 million renovation.
The quintessential Hollywood hotel just got a face-lift, said Matthew Garrahan in the Financial Times. The Bel-Air “has always had a reputation for luxury,” with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant once among its regular guests. But the hotel had become “tired” before it shut in 2009 for a $100 million renovation. While the refreshed hotel has lost “none of its grandeur,” the bedrooms have been overhauled, and a spa and a Wolfgang Puck restaurant added. Some ex-employees picketed the October opening, but their complaints haven’t scared off many local celebrities. hotelbelair.com; doubles from $540
