It's nearly unanimous: Jack and Jill is really bad. In the new "comedy," Adam Sandler plays both Jack and, semi-disguised in drag, his nightmare of a twin sister, Jill. In the days leading up to its Friday release, the movie boasted a "perfect 0" score on RottenTomatoes.com. In other words, not a single "top critic" monitored by the movie-review-aggregation site recommended the film. (By Friday afternoon, one late reviewer gave the flick a "fresh" review, bumping its score up to a whopping 2 percent.) Critics, it seems, had a lot more fun writing their scathing reviews than they did watching the movie. Here, the most vicious lines from their pans:
At least it's not false advertising
Despite Jack and Jill's painful trailer, "I went into it hoping for the best," says Eric D. Snider at Film.com. "And now, having seen the film, I can tell you that it is indeed every bit as lousy as it looks. So kudos to the marketing department, I guess. They nailed this one."

Watch your back, Madea
"Grotesquely caricatured, over-the-top drag? Check," says Alonso Duralde at The Wrap. "Schmaltzy comedy-killing homilies about the importance of family? Check." Jack and Jill confirms it: "Adam Sandler is the new Tyler Perry." And that is not a good thing.
Dumb and dumber
As Jack, Sandler is bored and lazy. And his Jill, a "loud, stupid, shrill caricature of a Jewish spinster," is even harder to stomach, says Lou Lumenick at the New York Post: Al Pacino's parody of himself provides the film's sole laughs. "It's pretty sad if you're a comic and Al Pacino is the funniest thing in your movie."
Sandler's well is clearly dry
Why is Sandler resorting to hideous, borderline-offensive drag in order to win laughs? asks Robert Abele at the Los Angeles Times. "Maybe it's middle age. Maybe it's the pressure of success. Maybe it's the nagging crisis of how to make flatulence jokes fresh again. (Wear a dress!)"
It haunts me still
"More than 24 hours has passed since I watched the new Adam Sandler movie Jack and Jill and I am still dead inside," says Mary Pols at TIME. The comedy is that ugly and unfunny.
