Recipes of the week: Cocktails in milk-shake form
The chill version of a White Russian works beautifully, as does a frosty old-fashioned.
We were a little suspicious when we spotted a bar near our office that was advertising “cocktail milk shakes,” said Roxanne Webber in Chow.com. Then we did a double-take: “Why wouldn’t you want a milk shake modeled after a favorite cocktail, right down to the booze?” Soon we were busy reimagining three cocktails in milk-shake form. It was no surprise that our chill version of a White Russian worked beautifully, but the old-fashioned (shown at left) turned out to be equally pleasing in its frosty but “decidedly kid-unfriendly” new form.
