The incredible journey
A Canadian dog who went missing a year ago has been found on the other side of the continent, about 2,800 miles from home. Pollux, 9, a black Labrador, disappeared from her Montreal home in June 2010, and was found this week in British Columbia, drinking from a river. An animal shelter identified Pollux by means of an implanted microchip. “Oh my god. Are you kidding me?” said owner Isabelle Robitaille when she heard the news. As to how Pollux got so far, one shelter official said, “I guess only she knows.”
What a doll!

A Virginia man was arrested after he allegedly burgled a porn shop and was found “attempting sexual relations” with an inflatable woman. Police were called to the break-in at 2:45 a.m., and found the glass front door shattered. A police dog then led them into the shop’s interior, where Justin Dale Little Jim, 28, was found in flagrante delicto with a blow-up doll. “It’s sad,” said store manager Jerry Poe. “Our stuff is reasonably priced. Anyone can come in here and purchase it.”
A good piece of evidence
A British man has been convicted of armed robbery after police found that he’d scheduled the crime in his day planner. Jonathan Ochola, 21, initially claimed he was at home watching soccer at the time of the robbery in Portsmouth. But police found an entry in his diary for the day in question that said, “Go Portsmouth / Robbery happens.” Ochola continued to deny involvement, but was convicted at a trial. “You don’t normally get such a good piece of evidence,” said a police detective.
