Democrats seek anonymous funders

A group of prominent Democrats announced plans to raise millions of dollars from anonymous sources for the 2012 elections, using a funding model President Obama labeled a “threat to democracy” when Republicans devised it last year.
Priorities USA, led by former White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton, will be modeled on Karl Rove’s American Crossroads, which is organized in a way that permits donors to give unlimited funds without disclosing their identities. Obama attacked such groups ahead of the 2010 midterms, but his supporters now say they need them to level the playing field.
