The Audi A7 Sportback: What the critics say
Audi's new A7 sells for $59,250.
Motor Trend
The “elegant and sporty” new A7 has a lot to like. Its 300-hp supercharged engine is matched to an eight-speed transmission that’s “nothing short of superb,” and its wood-appointed interior offers “the aesthetic appeal of a fine yacht.” This sedan is plenty smart, too. A 60 GB hard drive provides “optional wizardry” like a parking-assist system and navigation using bird’s-eye-view maps. “We can’t think of another car that so exquisitely blends luxury, performance, beauty, technology, and utility.”

Audi calls it a Sportback, but the A7 is really a “hatchback station wagon.” Whatever—this five-door delivers on its upscale promise. Power delivery is “silky,” and Audi’s redesigned Quattro all-wheel-drive generates “an astonishing amount of cornering grip.”
Car and Driver
Smart design features abound, including a console touch pad “that can detect fingertip handwriting.” And this newcomer is an agile performer—one that “glides over uneven roads” but “doesn’t mind being pushed through the corners.” The A7 represents “practicality at its most attractive.” In fact, it could be “the most beautiful of all Audis.”
